Finding Your Perfect Destination Venue
Finding and booking your perfect venue can be quite a task especially when you are planning your wedding in another country. Your wedding planner should prove to be a great source of guidance and comfort to make this process a little less overwhelming. Your venue is a very important part of your wedding as it sets the tone for your wedding day and will influence the logistics depending on the venue layout and facilities. Below we outline some important steps to assist in choosing the perfect venue:
1. Be Clear About Your Budget and What Is Important To You
As with all aspects of your wedding it is important that you are clear with your planner about your overall budget. This will give your planner an idea of what venues to show and not show.If a venue is outside of your budget you should not be teased with even a quick peek at it.
It is important to be clear with your planner about what is important to you such as an outdoor cocktail area, natural light, outdoor, indoor ceremony etc. These nonnegotiables will help focus your planner on finding the perfect venue for you.
2. Know Your Numbers
Not all venues will be able to accommodate your numbers so it is important to give your planner some guidance on your expected numbers.Your planner can then discount unsuitable venues on your behalf and make you aware of minimum guest numbers which some venues may have.As your wedding is abroad there may be some changes to your numbers closer to the big day so it is important to ensure some level of flexibility with your venue for such occasions.
3. Its A Date
It is important that you decide when you wish to get married, your planner will predetermine availability for suitable venues before you view them. This is the best way to avoid disappointment. It is important to remember to be somewhat flexible with your wedding date if you want to secure a venue you really have fallen in love with.
With these three basics answered your planner will put together a list of suitable venues, below a sample of our venue research spreadsheet which we use to determine suitability of venues for our couples. This is a useful tool as it outlines all the main considerations so that the best decision is arrived at:
4. Location, Location, Location
When deciding on your location it is important that you choose a location that you would love to visit as a guest. Things to consider; how easy the venue is to get to, is there additional accommodation close by for your guests, what transportation requirements will your guests have, what activities or local tourist attractions can your guests visit while on their trip, are there good restaurants around to suit all your guests in the days running up to the wedding, are there hairdressers located nearby for your guests etc. We have carried out extensive research on all of our venues when hand selecting them. 5. The Fun Part …… The Viewings
When you inspect the venue you will get a sense of the space and your initial feeling for the location, this will be the impact your guests will get upon arrival. Your planner will ensure atmosphere is created on the day to ensure you and your guests feel relaxed, at ease and ready to party.
